Sir John Wedderburn Halkett of Pitferrane, 4th Bt. was born on 6 August 1720.2 He was the son of Charles Wedderburn and Mary Wardlaw.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Fletcher, daughter of Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun, in 1758.2 He married, secondly, Mary Hamilton, daughter of Hon. John Hamilton and Margaret Home, before 1764.2 He died on 7 August 1793 at age 73.2
He was given the name of John Wedderburn of Gosford at birth.2 He gained the rank of Army Captain.2 He fought in the Capture of Guadeloupe in 1758.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Halkett, of Pitferrane [N.S., 1697] in 1792.1
