     Major Claude Francis Arthur Egerton was born on 23 January 1864.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Arthur Frederick Egerton and Helen Smith.¹ He married Alexandra Elizabeth Ritchie, daughter of Henry Nattras Ritchie, on 28 June 1900.¹ He died on 8 May 1957 at age 93.¹
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Territorial Forces Reserve.¹ He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.)¹
