Lt.-Col. Frederick Lewis Makgill Crichton Maitland was born on 7 March 1878.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. David Makgill Crichton Maitland and Lady Margaret Pleydell-Bouverie.1 He married Amy Anne Charlotte Duckett, daughter of Steuart James Charles Duckett and Catherine Seton Dick-Lauder, on 21 February 1921.1 He died on 12 November 1949 at age 71, without issue.1
