Admiral Sir Walter James Hunt-Grubbe1

     Admiral Sir Walter James Hunt-Grubbe was born on 23 February 1833.1 He was the son of Reverend James Andrew Hunt-Grubbe and Martha Anna Richards.1 He married Mary Anne Codrington, daughter of William Codrington, in 1867.1 He died on 11 April 1922 at age 89 at Devizes, Devon, England.1
     He was commissioned in 1845 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 23 May 1854.1 He gained the rank of Commander on 23 March 1861.1 He gained the rank of Captain on 5 July 1866.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1874.1 He held the office of Naval Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria on 3 November 1879.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 14 August 1882.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 July 1884.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 August 1890.1 He gained the rank of Admiral on 20 February 1895.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) on 3 June 1899.1

     Reverend James Andrew Hunt-Grubbe was born in 1796 at Potterne, Wiltshire, England.1 He was the son of William Hunt-Grubbe and Mary Dorothea Milnes.1 He married, firstly, unknown daughter Milnes, daughter of Reverend Thomas Milnes.2 He married, secondly, Martha Anna Richards, daughter of Reverend C. Richards, on 4 July 1831 at Silton, Dorset, England.1 He died on 4 March 1882 at South Stoneham, Hampshire, England.1
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2
