He was Lieutenant-Commander RNR, Carrick Pursuivant –85, Albany Herald 1985, memb Royal County Archers 1965, Ptnr Maclay Murray & Spens (slrs) 1960–90, Dir Scottish Amicable Life Assce Society 1963, Standard Pty Inv PLC 1977–87 Arms 1974.1 He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He graduated in 1956 with a Rugby, CCC Cambridge Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) ) and Glasgow U (LLB 1959.)1 He was Reserve Decoration (R.D.) in 1970.1 He was Writer to the Signet (W.S.) in 1977.1 He was Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1999.1 He lived in 2003 at The Old Manse, Gartocharn, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.1
