Charles Malcolm Napier, son of Lt.-Col. William Francis Cyril James Hamilton Napier, 13th Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Violet Muir Newson, on 25 January 1969.2 She died on 25 May 2001 at age 56.2
     She was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a barrister.1 From 25 January 1969, her married name became Napier.

William Francis Cyril James Hamilton Napier, 13th Lord Napier of Merchistoun was born on 9 September 1900.1 He was the son of Francis Edward Basil Napier, 12th Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Hon. Clarice Jessie Evelyn Hamilton.2 He married Violet Muir Newson, daughter of Sir Percy Wilson Newson, 1st and last Bt. and Helena Franklin, on 28 September 1928.3 He died on 23 August 1954 at age 53.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He succeeded as the 13th Lord Napier of Merchistoun [S., 1627] on 22 March 1941.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Ettrick of Ettrick, co.      Violet Muir Newson was the daughter of Sir Percy Wilson Newson, 1st and last Bt. and Helena Franklin.1 She married Lt.-Col. William Francis Cyril James Hamilton Napier, 13th Lord Napier of Merchistoun, son of Francis Edward Basil Napier, 12th Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Hon. Clarice Jessie Evelyn Hamilton, on 28 September 1928.1 She died in 1992.2
     She was National President of the YWCA of Scotland.2 Violet Muir Newson usually went by her middle name of Muir.2 Her married name became Napier.

     Sir Percy Wilson Newson, 1st and last Bt. was born on 4 April 1874.2 He was the son of William Henry Newson.2 He married Helena Franklin, daughter of Lt.-Col. Denham Franklin, on 1 June 1908.
     He was president of the Bank of Bengal in 1920.2 He was appointed Knight in 1920.2 He was governor of the Imperial Bank of India in 1921.2 He was created 1st Baronet Newson, of Framlingham, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 18 June 1921.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Warwickshire, Tamworth Division between 1922 and 1923.2
