     Sir John Stanhope was the son of Sir John Stanhope and Catherine Trentham.1 He married, secondly, Mary Radclyffe, daughter of Sir John Radclyffe.2 He married, firstly, Olivia Beresford, daughter of Edward Beresford, in 1608.2 He died on 29 May 1638.2
     He was appointed Knight. He held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire circa 1630.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Derbyshire.2 He lived at Elvaston, Derbyshire, EnglandG.1
