Shute Barrington Piers was born on 15 January 1828.1 He was the son of Reverend Octavius Samuel Piers and Jane Tristram.2 He married Jane Cunninghame Handyside, daughter of Peter Handyside, on 5 June 1863.1 He died on 14 August 1876 at age 48.1
