Charles John Bond was born on 16 April 1780.1 He was the son of Charles James Bond and Eleanor Cadden.1 He married Mary Barton Torlesse, daughter of John Torlesse and Anna Maria Robinson, on 8 July 1800 at Bombay, India.1 He married Elizabeth Nancy Smith in 1802.2 He died on 10 September 1820 at age 40 at Surat, India.1
     He gained the rank of Cadet in 1794.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant Fireworker on 20 December 1796.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 6 September 1797.1 He fought in the Battle of Seringapatam, where he was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1802.1 He gained the rank of Captain Lieutenant on 28 April 1804.1 He gained the rank of Captain on 5 May 1808.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 September 1818.1
