Æneas Ranald Macdonell, 21st of Glengarry was born on 8 August 1875.1 He was the son of Æneas Ranald Westrop Macdonell, 20th of Glengarry and Catherine Frances Creed.2 He married Dorah Edith Hartford, daughter of Dr. H. W. Hartford, on 7 August 1909.1 He died on 10 May 1941 at age 65 at Swanage, Dorset, England.1,3
He was educated at St. Paul's School, London, England.1 He succeeded as the 11th Lord Macdonell [Scotland, 1716] on 2 January 1901, Jacobite.1 He was British Vice-Consul to Baku, Russia between 1907 and 1920.1 He served with British Forces in South Russia and North Persia.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Major.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1920.1 He was British Vice-Consul to Tiflis, Russia between 1920 and 1923.1
