     Ellen Charlotte Conolly was born on 30 March 1804 at London, England.² She was the daughter of Valentine Conolly and Matilda Dunkin.^3,2 She married Francis Macnaghten, son of Sir Francis Workman-Macnaghten, 1st Bt. and Letitia Dunkin, on 6 January 1831.¹ She died on 17 March 1893 at age 88.¹
     From 6 January 1831, her married name became Macnaghten.

     Francis Macnaghten was the son of Francis Macnaghten and Ellen Charlotte Conolly.² He married Bessie Westoby, daughter of G. Westoby, on 8 October 1861.¹ He died on 1 May 1879, without issue.¹
     He was in the Bengal Civil Service.¹

     Bessie Westoby was the daughter of G. Westoby.² She married Francis Macnaghten, son of Francis Macnaghten and Ellen Charlotte Conolly, on 8 October 1861.¹ She died on 7 February 1901.¹
     From 8 October 1861, her married name became Macnaghten.

     Arthur William Macnaghten was born on 19 May 1835.¹ He was the son of Francis Macnaghten and Ellen Charlotte Conolly.² He married Louisa Howard, daughter of Nelson Howard, on 12 October 1861.¹ He died on 24 October 1919 at age 84.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Bombay Cavalry.¹

     Nelson Howard was in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹

     Louisa Howard was the daughter of Nelson Howard.² She married Arthur William Macnaghten, son of Francis Macnaghten and Ellen Charlotte Conolly, on 12 October 1861.¹ She died on 30 October 1929.¹
     From 12 October 1861, her married name became Macnaghten.

     Francis William Macnaghten was born on 10 December 1865.¹ He was the son of Arthur William Macnaghten and Louisa Howard.² He died on 18 September 1938 at age 72.¹

     Blanche Alice Macnaghten was the daughter of Arthur William Macnaghten and Louisa Howard.² She married Maj.-Gen. Edward Hughes Hemming, son of G. W. Hemming, on 2 October 1889.¹ She died on 8 November 1942.¹
     From 2 October 1889, her married name became Hemming.

     Maj.-Gen. Edward Hughes Hemming was born on 13 May 1860.² He was the son of G. W. Hemming.² He married Blanche Alice Macnaghten, daughter of Arthur William Macnaghten and Louisa Howard, on 2 October 1889.¹ He died on 20 April 1943 at age 82, killed in action.¹
     He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, England.² He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.² He was commissioned in February 1880 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the Royal Engineers.² He was awarded the Fowke Medal in 1882.² He fought in the Zhob Valley Expedition in 1884.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches twice.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in 1915 in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1915.¹
