Colonel Eric Dighton Mackenzie was born on 22 August 1891.1 He was the son of Sir Allan Russell Mackenzie of Glenmuick, 2nd Bt. and Lucy Eleanora Davidson.2 He married Elizabeth Katherine Mary Innes, daughter of Captain James William Guy Innes and Anna Orrok Stronach Sheila Foster Forbes, on 15 November 1948.1 He died on 8 August 1972 at age 80.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded three times.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Scots Guards.1 He was Comptroller for the Governor-General of Canada between 1931 and 1939.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1935.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1939.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Argyllshire in 1953.1
