Allan Macdonald, 2nd of Waternish and the Isle of Rona was the son of Allan Macdonald, 8th of Belfinlay and 1st of Waternish and Flora Nicolson.2 He died, unmarried.1
He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Inverness-shire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Inverness-shire.1 He was commissioned in 1848, in the service of the 99th Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1857.1
