Arthur Willoughby Spens was born on 19 November 1842.1 He was the son of Archibald Spens, 22nd of that Ilk and 19th of Lathallan and Henrietta Ouchterlony Valiant.2 He married Elizabeth Geraldine de Courcy Cooke-Collis, daughter of William Cooke-Collis and Sarah Hyde, on 4 August 1868.1 He died in 1916.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the 51st Highland Light Infantry.1
