     Sir John Alexander Cumnock Forbes of Craigievar, 12th Bt. was born on 29 August 1927.1 He was the son of Rear-Admiral Hon. Arthur Lionel Ochoncar Forbes-Sempill and Mary Cutting Holland Cummock.2 He married, firstly, Penelope Margaret Anne Grey-Pennington, daughter of Arthur Gordon Grey-Pennington, in 1956.1 He and Penelope Margaret Anne Grey-Pennington were divorced in 1963.1 He married, secondly, Jane Carolyn Evans, daughter of Charles Gordon Evans, in 1966.1 He died in 2000.3
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain between 1945 and 1949 in the Seaforth Highlanders.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was director of the Garrick Theatre between 1951 and 1965.1 He was Member of the Baillie Newton Stewart Town Council between 1965 and 1976.1 He was director of The Cinema Newton Stewart between 1966 and 1994.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Wigtownshire in 1978.1 He was an equestrian photo-journalist.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Forbes, of Craigievar [N.S., 1630] in 1991.2 He lived at Benevean, Kendoon, Dalry, Kirkcudbrightshire, ScotlandG.1
