John Adrian Louis Hope, 1st Marquess of Linlithgow was born on 25 September 1860.1 He was the son of John Alexander Hope, 6th Earl of Hopetoun and Ethelred Anne Birch Reynardson.1 He married Hon. Hersey Alice Eveleigh-de Moleyns, daughter of Dayrolles Blakeney Eveleigh-de Moleyns, 4th Baron Ventry and Harriet Elizabeth Frances Wauchope, on 18 October 1886.2 He died on 29 February 1908 at age 47.1
