     William Andrew Fairbairn was born on 22 December 1824.¹ He was the son of Sir William Fairbairn, 1st Bt. and Dorothy Mar.² He married, firstly, Marianne Murray, daughter of William Murray, on 12 September 1849.¹ He married, secondly, Helen Birley, daughter of Richard Birley, on 26 May 1864.² He died on 26 January 1910 at age 85.²

     William Murray held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newcastle-under-Lyme.¹

     Alice Mary Phillipps was the daughter of William Phillipps.² She married Vice-Admiral Bernard William Murray Fairbairn, son of Reverend William Murray Fairbairn and Frances Elizabeth Bury, on 29 April 1905.¹ She died on 16 November 1970.¹
     From 29 April 1905, her married name became Fairbairn.

     Alan Bernard Murray Fairbairn was born on 20 February 1906.¹ He was the son of Vice-Admiral Bernard William Murray Fairbairn and Alice Mary Phillipps.² He married Adeline Hilda Sweet, daughter of Lt.-Col. Edward Herbert Sweet, on 18 December 1943.¹ He died on 6 January 1995 at age 88 at New Forest, Hampshire, England.^1,3
