William Andrew Fairbairn was born on 22 December 1824.1 He was the son of Sir William Fairbairn, 1st Bt. and Dorothy Mar.2 He married, firstly, Marianne Murray, daughter of William Murray, on 12 September 1849.1 He married, secondly, Helen Birley, daughter of Richard Birley, on 26 May 1864.2 He died on 26 January 1910 at age 85.2
