     Alice Mary Emerton Brown was born on 9 December 1900.2 She was the daughter of Philip John Emerton Brown.3 She married Sir Howard Graham Elphinstone, 4th Bt., son of Graham Warburton Elphinstone and Susan Sophy Harley, on 14 July 1924.1 She died in 1978 at Stamford, Lincolnshire, England.2
     Alice Mary Emerton Brown also went by the nick-name of Mollie.1 From 14 July 1924, her married name became Elphinstone.

     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1
