     He was educated at St. Edward's School, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was Commissioner of Northern Rhodesia in UK.¹ He was Senior Provincial Commissioner of Northern Rhodesia.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1958.¹
