Colonel Edward Rushworth Blakiston Murray was born on 7 December 1868.1 He was the son of James Pulteney Murray and Henrietta Victoria Blakiston.2 He married Hilda Dorothea Paul, daughter of Reginald Paul, on 15 August 1905.1 He died in 1942, as the result of enemy action.1
He fought in the First World War.2 He was awarded the Order of St. Stanislas of Russia.2 He fought in the Afghan War in 1919.2 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1919 and 1920.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in 1921.2
