Maj.-Gen. Sir Henry Marion Durand was born on 6 November 1812.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Henry Percy and Marion Durand.2,3 He married, firstly, Annie McCaskill, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir John McCaskill, on 28 March 1843.1 He married, secondly, Emily Augusta Allnatt, daughter of Charles Blake Allnatt and Elizabeth Sophia Moller, on 23 August 1859.1 He died on 1 January 1871 at age 58.2
He fought in the Major-General, Royal Engineers.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He held the office of Member of the Council of Secretary of State for India.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.)1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjab in 1870.1
