James Dunbar was born on 20 June 1778.1 He was the son of Sir George Dunbar of Mochrum, 5th Bt. and Jane Rowe.2 He married Anna Catharina van Reede d'Oudtshoorn, daughter of Baron William Ferdinand van Reede d'Oudtshoorn, on 11 April 1811.1 He died on 31 January 1840 at age 61.1
He gained the rank of Officer in the 21st Light Dragoons.1

Anna Catharina van Reede d'Oudtshoorn was the daughter of Baron William Ferdinand van Reede d'Oudtshoorn.2 She married James Dunbar, son of Sir George Dunbar of Mochrum, 5th Bt. and Jane Rowe, on 11 April 1811.1 She died on 3 November 1860.1

Sir William Dunbar of Mochrum, 7th Bt. was born on 2 March 1812.1 He was the son of James Dunbar and Anna Catharina van Reede d'Oudtshoorn.2 He married Catherine Hay Paterson, daughter of James Paterson of Carpow and Jane Hay, on 7 January 1842.1 He died on 18 December 1889 at age 77.1
He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Dunbar, of Mochrum, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1694] on 22 June 1841.1 He held the office of a Lord of Treasury.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Wigtownshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Wigtownshire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtown Burghs between 1857 and 1865.1 He was Keeper of the Privy Seal for the Prince of Wales between 1859 and 1865.1 He was a member of the Council of the Duchy of Cornwall between 1863 and 1865.1 He was Keeper of the Great Seal of the Prince of Wales for Scotland between 1863 and 1865.1 He held the office of Comptroller-General of the Royal Exchequer and Auditor-General between 1867 and 1888.1

Sir Uthred James Hay Dunbar of Mochrum, 8th Bt. was born on 26 February 1843.1 He was the son of Sir William Dunbar of Mochrum, 7th Bt. and Catherine Hay Paterson.2 He married Lucy Blanche Cordelia Grant, daughter of Charles Thomas Constantine Grant, on 20 April 1882.1 He died on 4 September 1904 at age 61, without issue.1
