Major Richard Henry Lowry Carden was born on 14 December 1900.1 He was the son of Richard George Carden and Isabel Frances Elizabeth Toler.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Patricia Rose Finch, daughter of Major William Robert Edward Heneage Finch and Cecil Harriet Beatrice Bermingham Otway-Ruthven, on 16 February 1924.2 He and Margaret Patricia Rose Finch were divorced in 1940.2 He married, firstly, Anne Acland, daughter of Thomas Acland, on 25 July 1940.1 He married, thirdly, Dorothy Mary Addey, daughter of Francis Addey, on 27 October 1951.1 He died on 27 May 1975 at age 74.3
