Major Edward Brereton was born on 3 March 1728.1 He was the son of William Brereton and Alice Norcott.2 He married Amelia Henrietta Schaub, daughter of Sir Luke Schaub, on 30 October 1783.1 He died on 21 May 1801 at age 73, without issue.1
In 1759 he served in Canada in the assault and capture of Cape Breton Island.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 22nd Regiment of Foot.1 He lived at The Tithings, Worcestershire, EnglandG.1
