     Vice-Admiral Samuel Philip Townsend was born on 30 July 1831.² He was the son of Richard Edward Townsend and Elizabeth Jane Bath.² He married Emma Maria Bridges, daughter of J. W. Bridges, on 24 April 1860.² He died on 16 June 1920 at age 88.²
     He was commissioned in 1843, in the service of the Royal Navy.² He fought in the Crimean War, present at Sebastopol.² He gained the rank of officer in the H.M.S. Warrior, where he was Flag-Captain to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.² He was commander of the H.M.S. Boxer between 1855 and 1858 where he was mentioned in despatches twice.² He retired from the military in 1885, with the rank of Vice-Admiral.² He lived at Fareham, Hampshire, England^G.²

     Surgn. Edward Bridges Townsend was born on 30 May 1861.² He was the son of Vice-Admiral Samuel Philip Townsend and Emma Maria Bridges.² He married Kathleen Mary Henrietta Townsend, daughter of Horatio Hamilton Townsend and Elizabeth Ware, on 25 August 1898.² He died on 7 November 1932 at age 71.²
     He was educated at United Services College, Westward Ho!, Devon, England^G.¹ He was educated at King's College Hospital, London, England^G.² He gained the rank of Surgeon Captain in the Royal Navy.²

     Charles William Townsend was born in 1833.¹ He was the son of Horatio Townsend and Henrietta Margaret Chetwode.²
     He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Engineers.¹

     Reverend William Robinson Townsend is the son of Samuel Philip Townsend and Helena Robinson.² He married Isabella Young, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Brooke Young.¹

     Lt.-Col. Samuel Philip Townsend was the son of Reverend William Robinson Townsend and Isabella Young.² He married Jane Campbell, daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown Campbell.¹ He died, without issue.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹
