William Maitland was the son of Charles Maitland, 3rd Earl of Lauderdale and Elizabeth Lauder.1 He married, firstly, Christian Makgill, daughter of Robert Makgill, 2nd Viscount of Oxfuird and Lady Henrietta Livingstone.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Walker.1 He died in 1724.1

Sir Edward Gibson of Keirhill, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Thomas Gibson of Keirhill, 1st Bt. and Jean Marjoribanks.2 He married Barbara Maitland, daughter of Hon. Alexander Maitland.2 He died circa June 1727.1 He was buried on 2 June 1727.1
