Patrick Haldane, 16th of Gleneagles was born after 1682.2 He was the son of John Haldane, 14th of Gleneagles and Mary Drummond.2 He married Hon. Margaret Forrester, daughter of William Forrester, 4th Lord Forrester of Corstorphine and Margaret Birnie, circa 1721.2 He died on 10 January 1769.2
He graduated from St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, ScotlandG, in 1701 with a St Andrews Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was Professor of Greek in 1705 at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, ScotlandG.2 He was Professor of Ecclesiastical History between 1707 and 1716 at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, ScotlandG.2 He was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1715.2 He was Commissioner for disposal of Forfeited Estates after 1715 Rising.2 He held the office of Provost for St. Andrews
