     John Haldane, 12th of Gleneagles was the son of Sir John Haldane, 11th of Gleneagles and Catherine Wemyss.² He died after 1660.¹
     He was he was retoured heir to his father, but finding his estates much embarrassed owing to the troubled state of Scotland and heavy losses which his father had incurred, he went abroad, and joined the army commanded by Charles Augustus, King of Sweden on 3 March 1653.¹
