James Stopford, 2nd Earl of Courtown was born on 28 May 1731.1 He was the son of James Stopford, 1st Earl of Courtown and Elizabeth Smith.1 He married Mary Powys, daughter of Richard Powys and Lady Mary Brudenell, on 19 April 1762 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.2 He died on 30 March 1810 at age 78 at Teddington, London, EnglandG.2 He was buried on 12 April 1810 at Deene, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) in April 1810.2
