Francis Charles Hastings Russell, 9th Duke of Bedford was born on 16 October 1819.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Lord Sir George William Russell and Elizabeth Anne Rawdon.1 He was baptised on 20 July 1820 at Curzon Street, Mayfair, London, EnglandG.1 He married Lady Elizabeth Sackville-West, daughter of George John Sackville-West, 5th Earl De La Warr and Elizabeth Sackville-West, Baroness Buckhurst of Buckhurst, on 18 January 1844 at Buckhurst Park, Withyam, Sussex, EnglandG.2 He died on 14 January 1891 at age 71 at 81 Eaton Square, London, EnglandG, shooting himself while temporarily insane, while suffering from pneumonia.2 He was buried at Chenies, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG, after being cremated.2

Lady Anne Compton was the daughter of William Compton, 1st Earl of Northampton and Elizabeth Spencer.2,1 She married Ulrick Bourke, 1st Marquess of Clanricarde, son of Richard Bourke, 4th Earl of Clanricarde and Frances Walsingham, in December 1622.2 She died on 17 August 1675.2 She died intestate and her estate was administered on 24 August 1675.2 She died intestate and her estate was administered on 20 January 1699/0.2
