William David Armstrong Bagnell was born on 21 August 1926.1 He was the son of Captain Robert Armstrong Bagnell and Phyllis Evelyn Taylor.1 He married Caroline Mary Whittington-Moë, daughter of Edward Richard Whittington-Moë and Mary Caroline Bevan, on 16 May 1962.1 He died on 5 February 2016 at age 89.2
