     Sir Samuel Hill-Wood, 1st Bt. was born on 21 March 1872.2 He was the son of Samuel Wood and Anne Kershaw Sidebottom.3 He married Hon. Rachel Anne Selina Decima Bateman-Hanbury, daughter of William Bateman-Hanbury, 2nd Baron Bateman of Shobdon and Agnes Burrell Kerrison, on 12 April 1899.2 He died on 3 July 1954 at age 82.2
     He was given the name of Samuel Hill Wood at birth.2 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG, Eton.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for High Peak between 1910 and 1929.2 On 30 March 1912 his name was legally changed to Samuel Hill-Wood.2 He was created 1st Baronet Hill-Wood, of Moorfield, Glossop, co. Derby [U.K.] on 25 January 1921.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Territorial Army Reserve.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Derbyshire.2

     Dennis John Charles Hill-Wood was born on 25 June 1906.2 He was the son of Sir Samuel Hill-Wood, 1st Bt. and Hon. Rachel Anne Selina Decima Bateman-Hanbury.3 He married Mary Cecilia Smith, daughter of Everard Reginald Martin Smith and Violet Mary Hambro, on 1 December 1932.1 He died on 4 May 1982 at age 75.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1930 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He gained the rank of Major in the 4th County London Yeomanry (Territorial Army.)2 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1943, and was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1943.2 He was chairman of Arsenal Football Club.2
