     Vice-Admiral Hon. George Disney Keane was born on 26 September 1817.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. John Keane, 1st Baron Keane and Grace Smith.1 He married Katharine Mary McLeod, daughter of Major Alexander McLeod, on 31 July 1881.1 He died on 19 October 1891 at age 74, without issue.1
     He was commissioned in 1839, in the service of the Royal Navy.2 He gained the rank of Commander in 1846.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1855.2 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1872.2 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in 1878.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
