Reginald Charles Edward Abbot, 3rd Baron Colchester of Colchester was born on 13 February 1842.1 He was the son of Charles Abbot, 2nd Baron Colchester of Colchester and Hon. Elizabeth Susan Law.1 He married Lady Isabella Grace Maude, daughter of Cornwallis Maude, 1st and last Earl de Montalt of Dundrum and Clementina Elphinstone-Fleeming, on 28 January 1869.1 He died on 26 February 1919 at age 77.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of President of the Union Society of Oxford.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1864 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1864 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was a Fellow between 1864 and 1869 at All Souls' College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1867 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Colchester of Colchester, co. Essex [U.K., 1817] on 18 October 1867.1 He was Examiner in Law and History between 1869 and 1871 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was Private Secretary to the President of the Board of Trade, Sir Stafford Northcote.1 He was Private Secretary to the First Lord of the Treasury, the Earl of Derby.1 He was a Charity Commissioner between 1880 and 1883.1
On his death, his barony became extinct.1
