Major Henry Lyall was born on 6 November 1849.2 He is the son of Charles Lyall and Harriet Matheson.2 He was baptised on 22 February 1850 at St. James, Paddington, London, England.2 He married Mary Sophia Akers, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Charles Style Akers and Henrietta Margaret Despard, in 1876 at Weymouth, Dorset, England.2
