     John Lindsay-Crawford, 3rd Viscount Garnock was born on 5 July 1722.1 He was the son of Patrick Lindsay-Crawford, 2nd Viscount Garnock and Margaret Home.1 He died on 22 September 1739 at age 17, unmarried.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Kilbirny and Drumry [S., 1703] on 24 May 1735.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Garnock [S., 1703] on 24 May 1735.1

     George Lindsay-Crawford, 21st Earl of Crawford was born on 14 March 1728/29.1 He was the son of Patrick Lindsay-Crawford, 2nd Viscount Garnock and Margaret Home.1 He was baptised on 21 March 1728/29 at Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1 He married Jean Hamilton, daughter of Robert Hamilton and Jean Mitchell, on 26 December 1755.1 He died on 11 August 1781 at age 52 at Crawford Lodge, Fife, ScotlandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) in December 1781.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Lord Kilbirny and Drumry [S., 1703] on 22 September 1739.2 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount of Garnock [S., 1703] on 22 September 1739.2 He succeeded as the 14th Lord Lindsay of the Byres [S., 1444] on 24 December 1749.2 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Lindsay [S., 1633] on 24 December 1749.1 He succeeded as the 21st Earl of Crawford [S., 1398] on 24 December 1749.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Parbroath [S., 1633] on 24 December 1749.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Drumlanrig's Regiment, in Holland.1

     Jean Hamilton was born circa 1735.1 She was the daughter of Robert Hamilton and Jean Mitchell.1,3 She married George Lindsay-Crawford, 21st Earl of Crawford, son of Patrick Lindsay-Crawford, 2nd Viscount Garnock and Margaret Home, on 26 December 1755.1 She died on 6 October 1809 at Rosel, ScotlandG.1 Her will was proven (by probate) in January 1810.1
     From 26 December 1755, her married name became Lindsay-Crawford.1 After her marriage, Jean Hamilton was styled as Countess of Crawford on 26 December 1755.

     Robert Hamilton was born on 5 January 1698.2 He was the son of Hugh Hamilton of Clongall and Jean Ferguson.2 He married, firstly, Jean Mitchell in 1734.2 He married, secondly, Anne Cunninghame on 3 April 1760.2 He died on 4 June 1773 at age 75.2
     He lived at Bourtree Hill, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1

George Lindsay-Crawford, 22nd Earl of Crawford was born on 31 January 1758 at Bourtree Hill, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of George Lindsay-Crawford, 21st Earl of Crawford and Jean Hamilton.2 He died on 30 January 1808 at age 49 at Rosel, Ayrshire, ScotlandG, unmarried.1 He was buried at Crawford Lodge, Fife, ScotlandG.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered in June 1811.1
     He was educated in 1765 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1776, in the service of the British Army.1 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Lindsay [S., 1633] on 11 August 1781.1 He succeeded as the 22nd Earl of Crawford [S., 1398] on 11 August 1781.1 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Parbroath [S., 1633] on 11 August 1781.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Garnock [S., 1703] on 11 August 1781.2 He succeeded as the 15th Lord Lindsay of the Byres [S., 1444] on 11 August 1781.2 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Kilbirny and Drumry [S., 1703] on 11 August 1781.2 He was Colonel of the 2nd Battalion, 71st Regiment from 1782 to 1783.1 He was Colonel of the 63rd Foot between 1789 and 1808.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Fifeshire between 1794 and March 1807.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1805.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Fifeshire between May 1807 and 1808.1
     On his death, the male line of the 17th Earl of Crawford/1st Earl of Lindsay became extinct, and his titles passed to the male heirs of the 9th Earl of Crawford, underthe regrant of 1642.1

     Lady Joan Lindsay was the daughter of George Lindsay-Crawford, 21st Earl of Crawford and Jean Hamilton.1,2 She married General Archibald Montgomerie, 11th Earl of Eglinton, son of Alexander Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton and Susanna Kennedy, on 30 March 1772.1 She died on 22 January 1778, without issue.2
     After her marriage, Lady Joan Lindsay was styled as Countess of Eglinton on 30 March 1772. From 30 March 1772, her married name became Montgomerie.

     General Archibald Montgomerie, 11th Earl of Eglinton was born on 18 May 1726.1 He was the son of Alexander Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton and Susanna Kennedy.1 He married, firstly, Lady Joan Lindsay, daughter of George Lindsay-Crawford, 21st Earl of Crawford and Jean Hamilton, on 30 March 1772.1 He married, secondly, Frances Twysden, daughter of Sir William Twysden, 6th Bt. and Mary Jervis, on 9 August 1783.1 He died on 30 October 1796 at age 70.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
