Sir Thomas Proby, 1st Bt. was born circa 1634.2 He was the son of Sir Heneage Proby and Ellen Allen.1 He married Frances Cotton, daughter of Sir Thomas Cotton, 2nd Bt. and Alice Constable, circa 1673.2 He died in 1689, without surviving male issue, when the baronetcy expired.2
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Amersham in 1660.2 He was created 1st Baronet Proby, of Elton and Rans [England] on 7 March 1661/62.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Amersham between 1666 and 1679.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdon between 1679 and 1681.2
