Sir Richard Hoghton, 1st Bt. was the son of Thomas Hoghton and Anne Keighley.2 He married Catharine Gerard, daughter of Sir Gilbert Gerard and Anne Ratcliffe.3 He died on 12 November 1630.3
He was appointed Knight in January 1589/90.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Lancashire in 1599.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire between 1601 and 1611.3 He was created 1st Baronet Hoghton, of Hoghton Tower, and Walton le Dale, co. Lancaster [England] on 22 May 1611.3

Sir John Cotton, 1st Bt. was born in September 1615.2 He was the son of Sir John Cotton and Anne Hoghton.1 He married Jane Hinde, daughter of Edward Hinde and unknownn daughter Maples.2 He died in 1689.2 His will was proven (by probate) in June 1689.2
