     Major Lionel Gurney Buxton was born on 6 September 1876.¹ He was the son of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare.² He died on 25 April 1962 at age 85, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.¹ He was Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1905.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches. He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.¹

     Margaret Caroline Buxton was the daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare.² She married Richard Gurney Hoare, son of Francis Hoare and Eugenia Hankinson, on 13 December 1888.¹ She died on 26 July 1943.¹
     From 13 December 1888, her married name became Hoare.

     Francis Hoare was born on 13 June 1828.² He was the son of Samuel Hoare and Louisa Gurney.² He married Eugenia Hankinson, daughter of Venerable Robert Hankinson, on 26 July 1854.² He died on 26 October 1903 at age 75.²

     Richard Gurney Hoare was born on 26 October 1855.² He was the son of Francis Hoare and Eugenia Hankinson.^3,2 He married Margaret Caroline Buxton, daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare, on 13 December 1888.¹ He died on 23 February 1945 at age 89.¹

     Anna Mildred Buxton was the daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare.² She married Lt.-Col. William Douglas Whatman, son of William Godfrey Whatman, on 4 September 1889.¹ She died on 29 March 1934.¹
     From 4 September 1889, her married name became Whatman.

     William Godfrey Whatman lived at Beech House, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, England^G.¹ He lived at Kitlands, Holmwood, Surrey, England^G.¹

     Lt.-Col. William Douglas Whatman was the son of William Godfrey Whatman.² He married Anna Mildred Buxton, daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare, on 4 September 1889.¹ He died on 28 June 1929.¹
     He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 20th Hussars.¹

     Isabel Louisa Buxton was born circa 1870.¹ She was the daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare.² She married Captain Edward Hay Gurney, son of Francis Hay Gurney and Margaret Charlotte ffolkes, on 28 August 1894.¹ She died on 21 April 1962.¹
     From 28 August 1894, her married name became Gurney.

     Captain Edward Hay Gurney was born in 1867 at Norfolk, England^G.² He was the son of Francis Hay Gurney and Margaret Charlotte ffolkes.² He married Isabel Louisa Buxton, daughter of Samuel Gurney Buxton and Louisa Caroline Hoare, on 28 August 1894.¹ He died on 25 July 1935 at Ipswich, Suffolk, England^G.^1,2
     He lived at Stone Lodge, Ipswich, Suffolk, England^G.¹
