Lt.-Gen. Sir Michael Galwey was born on 2 October 1818.1 He was the son of Captain James Edward Galwey and Marcella McEvoy.1 He married Anna Maria Ross, daughter of Joseph Cuthbert Ross, on 25 March 1845.1 He died on 22 July 1878 at age 59.1
He was Colonel of the Madras Fusiliers in 1835.1 He fought in the Second Burma War in 1852.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny between 1857 and 1859, where he was mentioned in despatches, and received the thanks of the Governor-General.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Madras Army, Honourable East India Company Service.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
