     Robert Balfour was born on 7 April 1772 at Scotland^G.² He was the son of James Balfour and Betty Caw.¹ He married Isabella Edmond, daughter of George Edmond and Jean Thomson, on 29 December 1817.^3,4 He died on 30 January 1847 at age 74 at Southfield, Stirlingshire, Scotland^G.^3,4

     Isabella Edmond was born in 1769. She was the daughter of James Edmond. She married Thomas Balfour, son of James Balfour and Betty Caw, circa 1805.² She died on 10 September 1836 at Southfield Stirlingshire, Scotland^G.²
     From circa 1805, her married name became Balfour.¹

     James Balfour was born on 3 March 1743/44.^2,3 He was the son of Robert Balfour and Lilias Alexander.^2,3 He married Betty Caw on 18 September 1767.^2,3 He died in 1809.¹

     Betty Caw was born in 1745 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² She married James Balfour, son of Robert Balfour and Lilias Alexander, on 18 September 1767.^3,4 She died in 1788.¹

     Lord Arthur Somerset was born after 1661.² He was the son of Henry Somerset, 1st Duke of Beaufort and Mary Capell.¹ He married Mary Russell, daughter of Sir William Russell, 1st and last Bt. and Hesther Rouse.¹

     Mary Russell is the daughter of Sir William Russell, 1st and last Bt. and Hesther Rouse.^1,2 She married, secondly, Lord Arthur Somerset, son of Henry Somerset, 1st Duke of Beaufort and Mary Capell.¹ She married, firstly, Hugh Calverley Cotton, son of Sir Robert Cotton, 1st Bt. and Hester Salusbury.¹
     Her married name became Cotton.¹ Her married name became Somerset.¹

     Sir William Russell, 1st and last Bt. was born between 1617 and 1640.² He was the son of Sir William Russell, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Smallpage.² He married Hesther Rouse, daughter of Sir Thomas Rouse, 1st Bt.. He died before 1714, without male issue.²
     Sir William Russell, 1st and last Bt. also went by the nick-name of 'the white Sir William'.² He was created 1st Baronet Russell, of Langherne, Carmarthenshire [England] on 8 November 1660.²

     Hugh Calverley Cotton was born before 1671.² He was the son of Sir Robert Cotton, 1st Bt. and Hester Salusbury.^1,2 He married Mary Russell, daughter of Sir William Russell, 1st and last Bt. and Hesther Rouse.¹ He died before 1712.²

     Sir Robert Cotton, 1st Bt. was born circa 1635.² He was the son of Thomas Cotton and Elizabeth Calveley.³ He married Hester Salusbury, daughter of Sir Thomas Salusbury, 2nd Bt. and Hester Tyrrell.² He died on 17 December 1712.²
     He was appointed Knight in 1660.² He was created 1st Baronet Cotton, of Combermere, co. Chester [England] on 29 March 1677.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cheshire between 1679 and 1702.²

     Elizabeth Somerset is the daughter of Lord Arthur Somerset and Mary Russell.¹
