     Lady Margaret Johnstone was the daughter of James Johnstone, 1st Earl of Hartfell and Lady Margaret Douglas.^1,2 She married Sir Robert Dalzell, 1st Bt., son of Sir John Dalzell and Agnes Nisbet, circa 11 October 1654.²
     From circa 11 October 1654, her married name became Dalzell.²

     James Dalzell is the son of Sir Robert Dalzell, 1st Bt. and Violet Riddell.¹ He married unknown Graham.¹ He married Henrietta Gordon, daughter of William Gordon, 6th Viscount Kenmure.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Preston on 14 October 1715, for the Jacobites, and was captured.¹

     Lady Bethia Johnstone was born before 1640.¹ She was the daughter of James Johnstone, 1st Earl of Hartfell and Lady Margaret Douglas.¹

     John Seton, 3rd of Pitmedden was the son of Alexander Seton, 2nd of Pitmedden and Beatrix Ogilvy.^2,3 He married Elizabeth Johnston, daughter of Sir Samuel Johnston, 1st Bt., in 1633.¹ He died in June 1639, shot through the heart by a cannonball.¹
     He lived at Pitmedden, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.¹ He was a royalist in the Civil War.³ He fought in the Battle of the Bridge of Dee in June 1639, while carrying King Charles I's standard.³

     Maj.-Gen. Hon. John Johnstone was born on 3 September 1665.¹ He was the son of James Johnstone, 1st Earl of Annandale and Hartfell and Lady Henrietta Douglas.¹ He married Catherine Christine von Ahlefeldt, daughter of Detlev Sievert Graf von Ahlefeldt, on 19 June 1713.¹ He died on 29 December 1714 at age 49 at Poland^G.¹
     He was educated at University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland^G.¹ He gained the rank of Ensign in 1685 in the Earl of Dumbarton's Regiment (later The Royal Scots.)¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1686.¹ He fought in the Jacobite mutiny of The Royal Scots in 1689 at Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England^G, which he lead.¹ In 1690 he was comitted to the Tower and Newgate, released on bail, and joined King James II in exile.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Jacobite and French Armies.¹ In 1702 he was pardoned by Queen Anne, and granted by Royal Charter, Stapleton Tower, Dornock, Dumfries-shire (previously part of the estates of Annandale.)¹ He was commander of the Royal Saxon Army for Freidrich-August, Elector of Saxony.¹ He was Colonel of the von Johnston (later von Zuhlen) regiment of cuirassiers in 1710.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in the Polish cavalry division.¹

     Louisa Harris was the daughter of John Harris.¹ She married Lt.-Col. George FitzRoy, son of General Lord Charles FitzRoy and Lady Frances Anne Stewart, on 6 July 1830.¹ She died on 6 August 1865.¹
     From 6 July 1830, her married name became FitzRoy.¹

     Catherine Christine von Ahlefeldt was born on 14 November 1687. She was the daughter of Detlev Sievert Graf von Ahlefeldt.¹ She married, firstly, Maj.-Gen. Hon. John Johnstone, son of James Johnstone, 1st Earl of Annandale and Hartfell and Lady Henrietta Douglas, on 19 June 1713.¹ She married, secondly, Philip Ernst Herzog zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, son of Christian Herzog zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and Agnes Hedwig von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Plön, on 2 September 1722.¹ She died on 8 May 1726 at age 38, without surviving issue.¹
     From 19 June 1713, her married name became Johnstone.¹

     Hon. George Johnstone was born on 21 June 1667.¹ He was the son of James Johnstone, 1st Earl of Annandale and Hartfell and Lady Henrietta Douglas.¹ He died on 10 May 1674 at age 6.¹

     Vice-Admiral Robert FitzRoy was born on 5 July 1805 at Ampton Hall, Suffolk, England^G.¹ He was the son of General Lord Charles FitzRoy and Lady Frances Anne Stewart.¹ He married, firstly, Mary Henrietta O'Brien, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Edward James O'Brien, on 8 December 1836.¹ He married, secondly, Maria Isabella Smyth, daughter of John Henry Smyth and Lady Elizabeth Anne FitzRoy, on 22 February 1854.¹ He died on 30 April 1865 at age 59 at Lyndhurst House, Upper Norwood, Surrey, England^G, by committing suicide.¹
     He was educated in February 1818 at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 7 September 1824 in the Royal Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Flag Lieutenant in August 1828, to Rear-Admiral Sir Richard Otway, on board H.M.S. Ganges.¹ He was Captain of the H.M.S. Beagle between November 1828 and October 1836.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Durham between 1841 and 1843.¹ He held the office of Governor-General of New Zealand between 7 April 1843 and 18 November 1845.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1851.¹ He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1857.¹ He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in 1863.¹ He also had three daughters by his first wife.³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography.¹

     Mary Henrietta O'Brien was born in 1812. She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Edward James O'Brien.² She married Vice-Admiral Robert FitzRoy, son of General Lord Charles FitzRoy and Lady Frances Anne Stewart, on 8 December 1836.¹ She died on 5 April 1852.²
     From 8 December 1836, her married name became FitzRoy.¹
