Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis was born on 6 February 1801.1 He was the son of Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 11th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Mary Elizabeth Louisa Rodney Carpenter.1 He married Charlotte Grimstead, daughter of Joseph Valentine Grimstead and Charlotte Sarah Jane Walsh, on 21 December 1820 at St. James's, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 27 January 1834 at age 32.1

Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne was born on 28 September 1822 at Paul's Walden, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis and Charlotte Grimstead.1 He married Hon. Charlotte Maria Barrington, daughter of William Keppel Barrington, 6th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass and Hon. Jane Elizabeth Liddell, on 30 April 1850 at Shrivenham, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He died on 13 September 1865 at age 42 at Glamis Castle, Angus, Scotland, without issue.1
He gained the rank of Cornet in 1839 in the 1st Life Guards.1 He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne [S., 1677] on 27 August 1846.1 He succeeded as the 12th Lord Lyon and Glamis [S., 1606] on 27 August 1846.2 He succeeded as the 19th Lord Glamis [S., 1445] on 27 August 1846.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the South Hertfordshire Yeomanry Cavalry.1 He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1852 and 1865.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1856 and 1862 in the Forfarshire Yeomanry.1
