He was baptised on 25 January 1842. He married Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Denmark, daughter of Christian IX zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, King of Denmark and Luise Wilhelmine Friederike Karoline Auguste Julie Prinzessin von Hessen-Kassel, on 10 March 1863 at St. George's Chapel, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.5,6 He died on 6 May 1910 at age 68 at Buckingham Palace, St. James's, London, EnglandG, from bronchitis.4 He was buried on 20 May 1910 at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.7,8

She married Ludwig IV Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Großherzog von Hessen und bei Rhein, son of Karl Wilhelm Ludwig Prinz General von Hessen und bei Rhein and Marie Elisabeth Caroline Viktoria Prinzessin von Preußen, on 1 July 1862 at Osborne House, Osborne, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.4 She died on 14 December 1878 at age 35 at Darmstadt, Hessen, GermanyG, from diptheria, which swept through the palace affecting all but one of her children.5,4
     She gained the title of HRH Princess Alice of the United Kingdom. She married Henry Maurice Prinz von Battenberg, son of Alexander Ludwig Georg Friedrich Emil Prinz von Hessen und bei Rhein and Julie Therese Gräfin von Hauke, on 23 July 1885 at Whippingham Church, Whippingham, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.5 She died on 26 October 1944 at age 87 at Bantridge Park, Balcombe, Sussex, EnglandG.5 She was buried at St. Mildred's Church, Whippingham, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.6
     She gained the title of HRH Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom.1

She married Edward VII Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, King of the United Kingdom, son of Albert Prinz von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha and Victoria Alexandrina Hanover, Queen of the United Kingdom, on 10 March 1863 at St. George's Chapel, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.4,5 She died on 20 November 1925 at age 80 at Sandringham, Norfolk, EnglandG.1 She was buried at Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.6
