     Mabel Maria Gage was born on 10 June 1866.¹ She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. Edward Thomas Gage and Ella Henrietta Maxse.¹ She married General Sir William Eliot Peyton, son of Lt.-Col. John Peyton and Emily Georgiana Violet Pringle, on 27 April 1899.¹ She died on 12 May 1901 at age 34.¹

     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Engineers.¹
