     George Smith was born on 28 April 1833.¹ He was the son of Adam Smith and Isabella Anderson.¹ He married, firstly, Janet Colquhoun Adam, daughter of Robert Adam, on 11 December 1855.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Agnes Macintosh, daughter of William Macintosh and Mary Walker, in 1890.² He died on 24 December 1919 at age 86.¹
