     Colonel Ambrose Marshall Cardew was born on 17 April 1836 at Dum Dum, Bengal, India.¹ He was the son of Ambrose Cardew and Emma Maria Marshall.¹ He married Sophia Kathleen Cardew, daughter of Frederic Cardew and Caroline Louisa Anstruther, on 29 October 1868 at Saxmundham, Suffolk, England.¹ He died on 4 March 1895 at age 58 at 9 Cambridge Place, Falmouth, Cornwall, England.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the 19th and 9th Infantry.¹

     Sophia Kathleen Cardew was born in 1846 at India.¹ She was the daughter of Frederic Cardew and Caroline Louisa Anstruther.¹ She married Colonel Ambrose Marshall Cardew, son of Ambrose Cardew and Emma Maria Marshall, on 29 October 1868 at Saxmundham, Suffolk, England.¹ She died on 10 January 1917 at 9 Western Terrace, Falmouth, Cornwall, England.¹
