William Tait Campbell was born on 8 October 1912 at Larbert, Stirlinghsire, Scotland.1 He married Rhoda Alice Walker-Heneage-Vivian, daughter of Admiral Algernon Walker-Heneage-Vivian and Helen Mary Houssemayne du Boulay.1 He died on 7 October 1999 at age 86 at St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.1
He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the The Royal Scots.1 He was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Colonel between 1964 and 1974 in the Royal Scots.1
