Alan Frederick James de Rutzen was born on 4 July 1876.1 He married Eleanor Etna Audley Thursby-Pelham, daughter of Pelham Thursby-Pelham and Emily Florence Foley, on 28 April 1908.1 He died on 7 August 1916 at age 40 at El Arish, Egypt, killed in action.1
