Dennis Malcolm McConnell was born at sea in May 1918.1 He was the son of Clarence Henry Quentin McConnell and Helen Mary Thorpe.1 He married Joan Violet Charsley on 22 December 1944 at St. Paul's, Kandy, Sri Lanka.1 He died on 19 July 2007 at age 89 at Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.1
He was commissioned on 1 January 1937 with the rank of Midshipman, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April 1948.1 He and Joan Violet Charsley emigrated to South Africa arriving on 1963.1
