Maj.-Gen. Thomas Wynford Rees was born in 1898.1 He was the son of Reverend Thomas Morgan Rees and Mary James.2 He married Agatha Rosalie Innes, daughter of Sir Charles Alexander Innes, in 1926.1,2 He died on 15 October 1959 at Monmouthshire, Wales.1,3
He was commissioned in 1916 with the rank of officer, in the service of the 125th Napier's Rifles, Indian Army.2 He fought in the First World War between 1917 and 1918, in Mesopotamia and Palestine.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1919 and bar.2 He fought in the Waziristan Campaign in 1920.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1931.2 He fought in the Second World War, in the Western Desert, Eritrea and Burma.2 He was commander of the 10th, 19th and 4th Indian Divisions.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1947 in the Indian Army.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Monmouthshire in 1955.2 He lived at Goyrte Hall, Abergavenny, Wales.1
